In math we corrected our practice exercises from yesterday. I introduced lesson 2 in chapter 3, communicating about estimating and calculating. We also talked about identifying important information when looking at a word problem and effectively communicating how we solve a problem. The students find this difficult as they have to explain their mathematical reasoning. To practice the class completed exercises 1, 2, and 3 on page 87.
In language arts the students completed their literacy block rotations. We will continue with chapter 9 tomorrow. The students are enjoying this novel and keep asking to read the next chapter!
The class had music today.
In art we listened to a video of the popular kids book ish by Peter H. Reynolds. It essentially talks about how everything doesn’t have to be perfect. We also watched a video where the author started with a simple dot and created a wonderful piece of art. Similar to the dot the students were given a simple squiggly line and asked to create a piece of artwork that incorporates the squiggly line.
Tomorrow is PICTURE DAY at St. Edward’s. Please note that there will not be retakes this year.
